• Caption: Kingston, Jamaica. March 2007 - Kristen Campbell '07, a Boston College human development major in the Lynch School of Education (LSOE) and student co-leader of annual LSOE sponsored Jamaica Mustard Seed spring break trip, explains that she "fell in love" with Anthony last year as a participant. Anthony, a resident at Sophie's Place, part of the Jamaica Mustard Seed communities, suffers from hydrocephalus, is deaf, blind and cannot communicate in any normal form of spoken language. As Kristen describes, "it's amazing...when you approach his bed, he somehow senses your presence and immediately grabs your hands and places them on his head. It seems to be how he communicates. I'd assume he has a heightened sense of touch since he's deaf and blind. It's an incredibly powerful experience."
